Product Review: Sony SNC-RZ50N

Ip Network Cam 26X Pan Tilt Zoom Ms Pc Card SlotSony SNC-RZ50N is packed with useful features that make it a great value for the price. Some of its features include PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) Capability, High Quality Images, Selectable Compression Formats, High Frame Rate, Dual Encoding Capability, Image Stabilizer, Day/Night, Alarm and Anti-Tampering Functions, Wireless and Audio Capability and User Friendly GUI, among others. Here is a more detailed review of the product’s features.

PTZ Capability

The Sony SNC-RZ50N’s pan range and tilt range is impressive at 340 degrees and 115 degrees respectively. It allows a wider area to monitor which is perfect for businesses. It also has good total zooming capability of 312x (26x optical and 12x digital) that allows user to zoom in and out without affecting the quality of image.

High Quality Images

Sony SNC-RZ50N can capture high-contrast images at crisp color even at a low light condition. When in the night mode, it is still able to operate even on conditions when visible light is absent to the naked eye. It has ¼-type CCD image sensor size which is more than sufficient to satisfy any users who access the monitoring applications remotely.
SNC-RZ50N’s ability to clearly capture moving objects may not be as impressive as other products in this price range but it sure is more than most surveillance cameras. It supports a maximum frame rate of 30 fps at an image size of VGA (640x480). The captured image has minimal blurring but is still clear enough even in a minimally lighted area.

Compression Formats

SNC-RZ50N supports JPEG, MPEG-4 and H.264. However, one of the things that this security camera falls short off is the inability for H.264 compressed video to be viewed through a browser.

Alarm Functions

This dome camera is superior to most CCTV when it comes to motion detection. Instead of comparing the current image to the previous image, it compares the current image to the last 15 frames. It also has object detection which can be useful in detecting suspicious objects left in a public place. The main drawback for this product is that both features cannot be used simultaneously.

Network Features

Maximum of 20 users can simultaneously access the SNC-RZ50N. This is a good amount for a camera in this price range. This can be especially useful in monitoring an outdoor area such as a busy street.

Audio Capability

One of SNC-RZ50N main selling points is its bi-directional audio. This means it is capable to get live audio feed from the area being monitored while being able to send a voice alert or announcement.

What Is Security Cameras Night Vision?

Security cameras night vision allows clear capture of images in spite of a complete absence of light. This feature is beneficial in protecting homes and offices at night time or in securing a dark area.

How Night Vision Works
There are two ways security cameras are able to see at night or in the dark—thermal imaging and image enhancement. Thermal imaging amplifies thermal-infrared emissions—caused by atom’s reaction to light-- and converts the dimension of the invisible wavelength into an image. Thermal imaging is perfect for capturing images in areas with close to absolute darkness. This type of night vision is not as commonly used as the image enhancing one. Image enhancement is the most practical and popular type of night vision. Security cameras that employ this type of night vision have lenses that detect light on a frequency higher than thermal-infrared. Through a conversion process, the photons are converted to a visible image.

Infrared Illumination and Infrared LED
An infrared outdoor camera picks up a clear image in a dark area by flooding the area with reflective IR light. IR lights are invisible and can only be seen by a special apparatus. An infrared LED or low emitting diode is the light source; the higher the intensity of LED, the farther the IR range.

Things to look for in Security Cameras Night Vision
One way of determining the quality of the night vision in a security camera is through its lux rating--the minimum amount of light needed for the camera to pick up an image. The camera with a great night vision has a lux rating close to zero. For example, a surveillance dome camera with a lux rating of .001 is has better night vision than a camera with a lux rating of .01.

Another feature to look for is the IR range. An IR range is the maximum distance a camera with night vision can clearly capture an object in the dark. Security cameras night vision range is usually dependent on the amount of IR light it can sense and is also affected by weather conditions. An infrared outdoor camera with an IR range of 100 feet is better than a camera with an IR range of just 50 feet.

Whether you need a night vision feature in your camera or not solely rely on why you’re installing a security camera. An understanding of night vision and its importance in security cameras will help you consider this feature when making a camera purchase.

Top 5 Features of Fake Dome Camera

Fake Dome Camera is one of the fake security cameras available in the market today. For people on a tight budget, this type of camera is a perfect alternative to an actual security system. When shopping for a fake dome camera, here are the top 5 features to look for.

1. Blinking Red Light

Red light is an important feature in making a fake dome camera look real. There are 2 ways a red light can accomplish this. In some models of fake cameras, a constantly red blinking light is a standard. When in action, it gives a credible appearance that it is monitoring and recording. Some models are equipped with motion detector. Instead of a constantly blinking red light in the camera, the light is turned off and is only activated upon motion detection. Some dummy surveillance dome cameras also pan and tilt as response to motion. To an untrained eye, this gives an impression of a sophisticated security camera.

2. Infrared LED Imitation

Another top feature of a high quality fake dome camera is a built in photocell. It automatically activates the LED light to imitate the IR function at night time. The pretend infrared capabilities give an impression of a high-tech surveillance system that will sure to deter any unwanted intruders.

3. Well-Made Material

A dummy camera’s effectiveness relies on its ability to look authentic. One of the top features that add up to its authenticity is the material it is made off. A cable that connects the rear of the camera to a metal mounting bracket fastened with stainless steel screw makes a fake dome camera look more realistic. This gives the impression that it is actually a working camera.

4. Real Camera Housing

The most believable fake security camera has real camera housing. Feature such as an opaque high-gloss design or smoked dome lens expertly conceals what is inside the empty dome. Camera housing that is made up of plastic looks cheap and fake.

5. Voice Warning Messages

One of the most sought after feature of a fake dome camera is its ability to broadcast voice warning messages when motion is detected. Voice warning messages ranges from “Security Alert!” to “The authorities are being notified!” This is an effective way of intimidating people--who has intention to harm your family or property—without breaking your bank account.

The best on the Market: Bosch IP Camera System

Bosch has always been known as one of the leaders in revolutionary technologies in any form of product lines they use. Keeping in tradition of such technologies, IP camera systems are relatively high-tech and not as widely available on today’s market largely due to cost. Keeping in line with high quality and durability, Bosch has begun to create a more affordable IP camera system that is designed for the smaller business owners including: retail shops, restaurants, and convenience stores. Highly durable and advanced, one must understand what an IP camera system is, why it is more beneficial than normal camera systems, and why Bosch is the best manufacturer of such cameras.

What is an IP Camera System?

Much like CCTV cameras and traditional surveillance cameras, the IP camera system is designed for large or small scale indoor and outdoor surveillance. Shaped in numerous designs and layouts, IP camera systems are generally much more prevalent in today’s market for outdoor surveillance as they lack the annoying wiring and tricky installation. IP camera systems are run through a software program installed on any computer. Through this software, you are able to control any feature or aspect of your indoor and outdoor surveillance system with the click of a mouse. Full training demos are available to assist in any question or concern you may have.

Why is an IP camera system more beneficial than others?

Simply put, the IP camera system lacks the messy wires and dreadfully large systems that serve as a control panel for each camera. Should an issue arise with any particular camera, adjustments and repairs must be made on each camera. An IP system rids you of the wiring mess and tricky adjustment to cameras. Clicking your mouse on your computer creates an ease of use in providing the ability to not hassle with potentially dangerous and harmful adjustments to any particular camera needing attention.

Why is a Bosch IP camera system the best?
The Bosh IP camera system is very good; in fact, the Bosch IP camera system is the best on the market. Ease of use and super advanced technologies are incredibly durable and provide maximum amount of 24 hour surveillance. The Bosch IP camera system provides surveillance in any wet or dry condition and provides unique outdoor and indoor dome cameras for discretion and advanced visual effects. The software used for the Bosch IP camera system is the easiest and most advanced to use on the market today providing for options of screen shot enhancements, black and white enforcements, and even a Photo-Shop upload to modify and negative or hazy visual conditions. When in waterproof mode, while using any outdoor dome camera, the Bosch IP system delivers surveillance that is free from any large and distorting watermarks that are associated with wet lenses and covers. Small in size, the Bosch IP camera system assists in maintaining the highly coveted and crucial space associated with running a large system.

Dome Network Cameras : How-To

Dome network cameras are becoming more and more popular. They are perhaps most useful in commercial settings, such as an office, building or store; however, they are also used to protect large homes, large boats, and other large mobile or personal settings. Unfortunately, these cameras can be difficult to set up and use. This leads to many people experiencing difficulty when putting together and operating these cameras. However, the difficulty of setting these cameras up is the great deal of protection they provide.

First determine if your camera is wired or wireless, as the setup for each is different. With a wired camera, you have to run cables from your computer to where the camera is to be installed. However, with a wireless camera, installation is much simpler. All you need to do is connect the wireless adapter to your computer. This in turn will promote communication between your computer and the camera. Wireless cameras are generally much more advisable. In the old days, wireless cameras weren’t as reliable, which in turn led to them not being as popular. Nowadays however, wireless cameras are almost every bit as reliable.

Obviously you are going to want to read the installation manual that comes with the book, however, this should give you an idea about what is required to set up one of these cameras. First figure out how many cameras your network will be able to support. Your network should be able to handle anywhere from 56mbps to 10gbps, depending on how many cameras you want. To give you an idea, 10gbps will be able to host about 1000 cameras.

When you are going to mount the camera, you need to be able to connect the camera to an electrical outlet. Now, connect the camera to your computer and run the installation software. When this is complete, disconnect the camera and place it within the range of your wireless router and electrical outlet. When installing a dome network camera the only things you will need are a drill, the camera’s mount, and the actual camera. First, pick a good location. Keep in mind what you want the camera to do. Try to minimize blind spots, or cover densely populated areas. Now to begin the actual placement of the cameras, take the drill and drill the holes that are required by the camera mount. Insert the mount into the holes you drilled and secure it. Next, place the camera in the dome and connect any wiring. If there is no wiring, skip that step. Make any necessary adjustments to the angle the camera is resting at. When all this is complete, it is time to connect your camera so you can see what the camera sees. Now you can begin trying out all the different features such as motion triggers, among others.

Now that you have successfully mounted, installed, and connected your cable to the internet, you are well on your way to a more secure office, home, or any other area.

The benefits of an infrared camera

Security systems in today’s business world are crucial in order to protect and maintain safety and security. When visiting local businesses, one usually sees cameras conspicuously thrown about the ceiling and outdoor corner areas that allow for constant monitoring of activities. Many larger corporations even hire personal shoppers that serve as loss prevention and secret shoppers to assist in thwarting any potential theft. Much of the issue with these types of normal surveillance cameras and systems is that they are costly and often not terribly reliable while not offering night vision, dome designs, and often provide spotty surveillance due to numerous environmental factors. Overall, the use of infrared dome cameras is perhaps the best investment in security a business could make in today’s fast-paced and high-crime world. Providing rich technologies and advanced features, an infrared dome camera offers affordability and increased peace of mind that you are protecting your products and services.

Why use an infrared dome camera?
The high tech infrared dome camera system allows for an advanced performance camera with a panning technology. Scoping around an entire area the dome camera is placed allows for increased square footage of protected areas. Also, the infrared dome camera system provides a tilt zoom feature with allows for an angled zoom as opposed to merely a vertical zoom associated with other cameras. Perhaps one of the most advanced technologies of the infrared dome camera system is the infrared capabilities associated with it. Allowing for enhanced infrared technology and support, there is virtually no environmental or special factor that could deter the camera system from being able to perform vital surveillance functions. The infrared dome camera system is perfect for protecting businesses, buildings, parking lots, streets, and any particular establishment involving people and money.
When zooming close to any particular item or person of your choice, an infrared dome camera provides such tiny details as the dollar amount written on a check, a driver’s license number of someone showing their identification, and even the writing on a dollar bill. Such high tech visual capabilities make infrared dome cameras the perfect fit for placing near cash registers. In fact, a survey of banking centers across the globe revealed their bank teller surveillance systems are infrared dome cameras that allow for unique and up-close surveillance of every transaction made within their banking centers.

Infrared Dome cameras in review

Upon installing an infrared dome camera within a convenience store, a test was run that discussed ease of use, quality, reliability, and advanced surveillance features. Running off of a relatively small and lightweight DVR, the infrared dome camera allows for an easy adjustment to any particular visual space you require. Furthermore, the DVR system adjustments were easily performed by merely adjusting a nozzle for zoom and tilt. The highest of quality, throughout a large amount of time monitored, the infrared dome camera had an extremely low static or fail rate, ensuring your business is constantly monitored. Also, while monitoring normal transactions, the writing on a quarter was able to be frozen and read directly from the camera, showcasing the infrared dome cameras capabilities in advanced monitoring.

How to Choose High Resolution Dome Camera

There are several features and functions to consider when choosing a high resolution dome camera. By comparing these features, it will be easy for you to decide on what type of camera to purchase.

  1. Evaluate the Camera Resolution
When comparing one high resolution dome camera to another, one of the first points of comparison is the number of the TVL.  TVL stands for TV lines of resolution and is a measurement of a camera’s or monitor’s horizontal resolution power; the higher the TVL, the better the resolution. High resolution in a black and white camera is at 768 x 492 or higher and is equal to 570 TV lines and above. In order for a colored camera to be categorized as high resolution, it has to have more than 460 TVL.

  1. Identify the Type of Image Sensor Used
There are two technologies used for capturing images digitally. CCD (charge coupled device) and CMOS (complementary metal oxide conductor) are the two image sensors commonly used by companies that manufacture security cameras. Each has its advantages and disadvantages and it is difficult to say which one is more superior.  The two biggest manufacturers of CCTV cameras vary in the image sensor they use. Pelco , for instance, uses CCD while Axis uses CMOS. Both Pelco and Axis make excellent surveillance dome cameras.
CCD or CMOS size are measured in fractions.  1/3” and ¼” are the most common image sensor sizes.

  1. Compare the Optical Zoom and Digital Zoom Features
These features are important in a high resolution dome camera. The more powerful the optical zoom and digital zoom is, the crisper, clearer and richer in color and detail a distant and small object is when zoomed in.

  1. Review the Day/Night Function
A good high resolution dome camera often comes with infrared features and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) function. A high resolution infrared outdoor camera allows clear video capture even on situations wherein there is absolute darkness. Infrared range or IR range is measured in feet; the higher the IR range, the better.
WDR is also an important consideration when selecting a high resolution dome camera. The WDR function provides crisp and clear images even when illumination intensity is excessive.
Aside from comparative reviews, reading feedbacks from customers can also assist you in your decision making process. Often times, experiences of other people in using a product can help you determine if it is the right product for you.

How to Choose Weatherproof Dome Camera

A weatherproof dome camera is considered a necessity in maintaining the security of homes, businesses and other areas. Choosing a surveillance dome camera that will best suit your needs depends on several factors.

Decide on the Type of Outdoor Surveillance Dome Camera

Your first step in deciding on what outdoor camera dome to buy is identifying the type of camera you need. Do you need a weather-resistant PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) dome or a fixed dome? The answer lies on why you want to install an outdoor camera surveillance system. If your reason is for live monitoring and there is a need for you to dynamically follow a subject, then the PTZ dome camera is an excellent choice for you. A fixed dome camera, on the other hand, is discreet with its dome casing. In fact, it is often touted as a “polite” home outdoor camera since it is hard to identify the subject it is monitoring.

Determine How Weather-Resistant You Want Your CCTV Camera to Be

There are a lot of home outdoor cameras that claim to be weather-proof. The definition of weather-proof varies from one security camera company to another. True blue weatherproof dome security cameras are protected by weatherproof housings. This efficiently protects the camera from various weather conditions. A top-of-the-line outdoor dome camera has thermostatic controls. It is able to heat and cool itself to avoid condensation.

Find out if Live Streaming is a Necessity

Sophisticated camera systems allow simultaneous controlling and monitoring video from an IP network from almost anywhere in the world. This is particularly helpful for remote surveillance. Pelco, a camera solutions company offers dome systems that permits live streaming to any network application.

Consider the Quality of Imaging

A top notch home outdoor camera has multiple optic options. A day and night Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) allows accurate representation of color. A WDR of a 128X will give you a clear image even on an extreme contrast of light (very light and very dark) and a resolution of 540 TVL is excellent. The quality of imaging also relies on total zoom capability (digital zoom and optical zoom). Some outdoor camera surveillances also have additional features such as motion detection and image enhancement. It is also important to consider how well the outdoor camera works in the absence of light. A good quality night camera works extremely well even at 0.025 lux.
The efficiency of weatherproof dome camera is individualistic. The best way for you to go about with the decision making process is to identify your needs and go from there.
